Frame Drums Meeting
Artistic Residency
The residency is intended as a moment of mutual exchange in which musicians, through musical encounters, can develop a creation and performance of traditional and contemporary repertoires.
Performances, exhibitions, workshops, are committed to giving back the result of their artistic work to the community and the territory.
The residency hosts male and female frame drum players, but is also open to composers, individual musicians, and musicians and ensembles playing other instruments.
The Mediterranean Frame Drums will act as a cord to create moments of musical relationships on different repertoires.

Winners of the "UcciFolkContest" award in Cutrofiano (LE)
Cutrofiano (LE) - 12/09
Someone, not long ago, wrote: "Adopt the right medicine. You will recognize it because it makes life stronger and not weaker."
Like music, for example. And dance. And all the arts.
Yesterday was a day full of positive emotions, for several reasons:
we had the great opportunity to bring our show inside #LiUcciFestival ;
we were rewarded for #winning the #UcciFolKontest ;
we had the immense fortune of seeing many friends again and sharing the stage with the excellent musicians of Civico22 (MEI winners).
Below is the logbook of yesterday. Look at it and tell us if this doesn't really seem like the right medicine, the cure.

The Trillanti winners of the “Luigi Stifani Festival” in Santa Maria al Bagno (LE)
Trillanti, a folk music group from Ciociaria, are wrapping up their summer tour with a bang: after releasing their first album, "Vento Aquilone," and presenting it to a packed audience of onlookers and enthusiasts in Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore in Alatri (their hometown), they're closing out the summer by winning the "Luigi Stifani Award" festival in Santa Maria al Bagno, a hamlet of Nardò (LE), bringing this prestigious award home.
The festival was born as a memorial to Luigi Stifani, "the father of the pizziche tarantate of Salento" and the most important custodian of tarantism. Through the therapeutic power of his compositions and his violin (along with the Tora Marzo drum and other instruments that accompanied him), he cured "tarantate" women, leading them to a true personal rebirth.
Interest in Stifani's compositions and his work, which has grown significantly since his death, the wide-ranging scholarship on everything he created, and the desire to do justice to his legacy and the culture he still represents, have allowed the memorial to reach its 16th edition this year. This is thanks to the commitment of many scholars of various backgrounds (including simple popularizers) and the encouragement of Giovanna and Antonio Stifani, children of the Maestro and lawyer Luigi Galeani.
The "Luigi Stifani Award," held on August 25th and 26th, featured some of the most renowned guests in the world of ethno-popular music, along with five competing groups: I Maè, I Marimai, Radici Popolari, Scattacore, and, of course, I Trillanti, who managed to snatch victory and secure a solid first place right here in Alatri.
The technical jury was chaired by the great musician Ruggiero Inchingolo and included prominent figures in the Italian ethnomusicological scene, such as scholar Salvatore Villani.
"This is an award for all of Ciociaria, which we are proud to share with all those who love folk music, just like us," said the group's leader Mattia Dell'Uomo.
First place in the "Luigi Stifani Award" was a source of pride and pride for I Trillanti (and also for Alatri and all of us, their fellow citizens). Performing on such a prestigious stage, among artists from all over Italy, thus elevating the name of Ciociaria and winning, was no small feat, and not even for everyone.
