Company of folk dances from central and southern Italy

“CiociAbballa” was born as a folk dance company from central and southern Italy with the aim of sharing the joy of a common passion: that for the traditional world. This condition led I Trillanti to join with many other people, students of the courses, to create - under the direction of the official dancer of the group Maria Carmen - shows in which music and dance interact constantly, within a “many to many” relationship. The idea is to recreate, even on stage, the “party”, that moment in which the elderly danced and played to have fun, a moment they would never have given up.

The possibility of involving even more dancers on stage - as an integral part of the concerts - therefore, finds its matrix in the logic of sharing a musical genre (the popular one, precisely) never limited by barriers but always open to union, equality and diversity as wealth.

Each individual participant thus brings, as an added value, their own way of understanding movement, their own way of living and feeling traditional dance, providing different keys to reading the same phenomenon, both in moments in which, in a sort of natural coordination, the dance appears similar for everyone, and in moments – instead – in which the beauty of improvisations explodes. What is obtained is a hub, a fulcrum around which gravitates a swarm of people who love not only folk dance but also the possibility that it offers them to express themselves. This normal human condition, the group of "I Trillanti" brings it with them on and under the stages, in shows specifically dedicated to it.
